So apparently some people have been hating on Ragatha after episode 3 and like???? For why???
I read their “reasons” and… oh. They don’t GET it. Like they don’t see what’s clearly in front of their god damn stupid ass faces.
That was mean, I’m sorry.
YA KNOW WHAT IM NOT FUCKIN SORRY
Ragatha is a people pleaser, which means she will do/say almost anything to please others so that there is a clear reason to like/want her around. Is this manipulative? I mean… I guess???? But also being nice to others is literally the least worst thing you could do to someone else??? “Oh but she doesn’t mean it” UM YEAH WHEN SHE TELLS POMNI “oh it’s ok that you left me for dead, twice🥲👍” she did NOT mean that it was ok. But what else was she gonna do? Say “hey wtf why’d you leave me to die?” Ragatha again RAGATHA, would never even consider that as an option because it would cause FRICTION. This is what Goose meant when she said that “Ragatha lies to others to avoid conflict” not that Ragatha lies to others to bend them to her evil will oooh scary~
And for the “she only ever worries about Pomni!” People, ITS BEEN 3 DAYS, POMNI HAS BEEN IN THIS DIGITAL HELL FOR ONLY 3 DAYS. I’m sure before she got there Ragatha worried over the other characters but after Pomni showed up, Ragatha focused all her attention to her since she FUCKIN NEEDS IT CLEARLY
People that dont like Ragatha (depending on their reasoning of course) says a few things to me about themselves, they either;
- don’t understand the pov or even concept of a chronic people pleaser
- lacking a concerning amount of media literacy
- the worst possibility…. both
I’m not saying you can’t hate Ragatha, you can obviously, but at least have the reasoning make sense. I have never before seen such a well written example of “people pleaser that clearly has self worth issues” in my life in any medium, especially in animation.
To those that ADORE Ragatha… I know why. It’s cause you’re probably a people pleaser, or you used to be. You see her way of thinking and go “oof I know that train of thought and it SUCKS” Maybe that’s me projecting cause I’m a people pleaser. To the point that I’ve put myself in literal life threatening situations merely because I didn’t want to be a bother to others. I wanted to be as likable as possible so ya know what I did? Exactly what we see Ragatha doing. And if you think that Ragatha is this awful person then you understand why I’m writing this.
Mwah! Goodnight everybody!

oh my god dude ur so right about the fandom consisting of younger people 😭 not to disrespect the younger fans here but sometimes its rough because as a kid you dont really care about interacting with media you shouldnt and thats normal. but god does it suck when they dont know HOW to interact with it
im 17 and i did admittedly get into ghost eyes when i was like late 14 and i was tempted to put 15+ only in the bio of my ge sideblog but i kind of figured that. 14 year olds are always going to get into messed up shit. we should obviously try to prevent it but if theyve already read it we should as older fans at least make sure were guiding them in the right direction with such a complicated story
sorry for the ramble ill probably make my own post about this LOL but yeah
oh god i hope i word this right, but i 100% agree with you. sorry this is so long but im going to elaborate on my prev post too. more words under cut because i dont want this long ass essay clogging my blog lmao
if you do read this pls read the whole thing!
but yea
especially with the internet nowadays and the younger gen, they can and will get into anything, whether they fully understand the material or not. i worked with elementary children my senior year of high school in the after school program and a second grader was watching hazbin hotel so theres really no stopping them no matter the age (i highly disagree with this do not get me wrong). anyways
ghost eyes as a piece of media i feel like attracts a certain kind of reader that IS pretty young, especially because the characters are in high school and its on webtoon which has a young audience in general. it's just a highly dark piece of media that NEEDS a mature audience to properly handle the subject matter. at least a couple years ago, i dont know about now, a LOT of people were definitely not handling the series in a healthy or respectful way (of course others were just fine). i genuinely hope those readers got the help they needed in the most respectful way. i am VERY glad mcp put that warning in the beginning of the series, esp cuz canvas doesnt have the rating system originals has now. I first read it before it had that warning and i did not know what i was initially getting into lmao (still loved it anyways)
this may sound weird, but i'm kind of glad i read it so young because if ive never read it before and tried to get into it now, let me tell you, i would have dropped it so fast lmao. im glad i still love it though because the story is very intriguing and im so fucking invested. i feel younger people who consider themselves "edgy" or whatever, for lack of a better term, are just more open or can brush off some of the earlier scenes. i say this because i was kind of that person (ive gotten better and have matured). i highly enjoy the later episodes and i feel the later 2/3 of the story found a better groove idk. its still messed up but i feel a better/more mature messed up, like less of shock value things? idk, i feel even though earlier scenes were "necessary" to the story, it still felt strangely handled.
I also feel young readers now will also mature about the series as they grow older. I definitely did. instead blindly loving a piece of media at freshly 13 yrs old, i grew and realized that this is a series that needs to be heavily separated from real life and approached with a lot media literacy and critical thinking. i can love a series and characters and not let them influence my fundamental self or my values. i feel thats the problem with a lot of fans from a lot fandoms, not just ge, they just cant separate it??? idk, but im really happy mcp stopped reading the comments on webtoon as well because i cant read them either lmao.
but i mean, regardless of age, there's always going to be aspects of the fandom i don't agree with or makes me uncomfortable. tumblr is the only side of the ge fandom i interact with because its so chill, maybe occasionally insta or pinterest. tumblr yall are the real ones. im so glad i never had amino or tiktok fr. apparently those were wild idk i never went there lol
and i DO NOT want to be dismissive of a lot of people's feelings about the series too. i don't know how to word this properly so i hope i get this across correctly. mcp put a strict no kin material rule FOR A REASON yall!! the series and characters are kind of messed up. and im talking to a general audience here, not you anon lol. it may feel validating or something but it should not be. i mean this in a very respectful way, but if you see yourself reflected in these characters for wrong reasons, get some help if you are able to. i dont know what you surround yourself with to feel that way, but i want to highlight that you are probably not interacting with the healthiest people/things if you feel that way. i dont know anything about your lives, but i want whats best for you, genuinely. i say this because i was this person in middle school. i thought i was edgy and cool because i was "different" from the other kids, but in reality i was just really sad and pretty lonely with no outlet besides series like this and art. i look back on my mindset and cringe ngl. i got a lot better within like the year tho. so if this is the wake up call you need, i hope this helps /gen.
ultimately, i do not mind young people reading ghost eyes as long as they can be mature about it. and if they're not, i also realize that they're children and may or may not need help. sometimes kids are just immature, and thats normal. theyre kids. but a series rated MATURE should have a mature audience, which doesnt really have a specific age if im honest. a 15 yr old can be very mature about a series and a 30 year old can interact with a series in a very poor way. so yea, and i aint the fun police, so do what you will with your media you interact with, as long as your not hurting others or yourself. just have fun
the thing i love about ghost eyes, despite it being dark, can also be hilariously fucking funny. it has made me laugh so hard sometimes, and it can be very heartwarming. i love a series that can have that balance. im rooting for these characters fr!!

yeah no we are absolutely not doing the "mimi caitlyn" thing, thats insane. "Deep down🥺" oh my god.
yeah no.
I do see certain things with Mel's brother though, so well good on you for that for also pointing it out Ig. Still doesn't change my mind that we as an audience should have had a way of seeing it too, alas introducing her brother before so we can understand why Mel sees he isn't her brother even better.
no he was literally floating in the universe like Im sorry to tell you this. He was also walking through structures of what we saw the arcane being in 1. Viktors blood stream when it first connected to his leg 2. the tree. like lets not say things.
I hate this idea of thinking a show did right by introducing characters wrong because "wElL PaRaLlelS" or "wElL tHeY dOnT NeEd TO Be FlEsHeD oUT" yes they do. And Arcane is able to do that, we saw that in season 1. That's just a terrible excuse. And also parallels are GOOD and I like them but they also get ridiculous very fast if overdone or done wrong.
Ambessa not being able to change Mels disappearance doesn't change the fact how odd her character has become and how she doesn't move a muscle and mentions Mel ONCE and just once after her disappearance.
literally shut up with the "mEdIa LitEraCy" bullshit. have a nice rest of your night/day
what made season 1 so stunningly good was that every scene could be explained with stuff that happened on screen.
Why did Vi know where to find Vander after Silco took him? well of course because of Ekko who was established in the first few minutes of the first episode to be the character to be on look out.
Why did Powder follow the others to the abandoned building? why because she wanted to feel useful, she wanted for her stuff to work and she wanted to help. She wanted to not be the Jinx. This was all established through character moments that were natural and normal human interactions.
Why did Mel invest in Jayce? Why because first of all her own mother sent her away so seeing Jayce's mother stand up for her son must've hit her. And we see her talking about having to find new investments. Of course she would. He sounds interesting enough. Why not try it? If it doesn't work banishment is still on the table.
Why did Viktor help Jayce? Because he didn't want to stand in Heimerdingers shadow as just an assistant anymore. He was sick and knew the problems of the undercity first hand, he wanted to help. Of course he would, if there was a chance hextech could do it.
Why did Marcus continue to help Silco even after Graysons death? Why, because of his daughter or course. He could be threatened, molded and used. He wanted to establish big things, and was hasty in his youth, and we see 1. Silco exploit that and 2. Marcus regret that.
Why did a shimmer induced Huck help Caitlyn out? Why because as early as the very first episode in Vanders first speaking scene he gets help from Vander and well why wouldn't he then show that help for Vi, knowing he can?
literally every scene makes sense, everything can be explained with stuff that we SEE in the show. There isn't anything "off screen" or just not there.
Now tell me
Why did Caitlyn suddenly switch sides again in season 2 act 2? Why and how did Mel know that her brother wasn't actually her brother? Why did she know how to solve the puzzle? Why is Viktor suddenly floating in the universe? Why does Ambessa just ignore her daughter being abscent outside of that one throw away line? Why do Maddie, Loris and Isha exist? Every chatacter existed for a reason that wasn't just Plot even if they sometimes were just for Plot in season 1. But Maddie, Loris and even ISHA for gods sake, really are just Plot. Isha not as much as Maddie and Loris and thank god for that but still, her character, while I still hope it isn't true, existed to die and further Jinx's pain.
it's just so ugh
